秘密 ~トップ·シークレット~ – Himitsu ~Top Secret~ (Live-Action Film)

Scheduled to come out in early August, although I’m not too familiar with the original manga/anime I’m looking forward to this film.

Ikuta Toma and Rurouni Kenshin film series director Otomo Keishi have come together, along with Okada Masaki, Matsuzaka Tori, and other distinguished cast members including Kikkawa Kouji, to produce the live-action adaptation of Himitsu ~Top Secret~ (also known in English as (The Top Secret: Murder in Mind).

彼岸島 デラックス – Higanjima Deluxe (Live-Action Film)

I watched the serial TV drama series Higanjima during my stint in Japan 3 years ago, so I was pretty surprised to see that a continuation film is set for release October 15, complete with Shiraishi Shunya, Suzuki Ryohei, and others reprising their roles (along with some new faces).

From City to City: Otomo Katsuhiro and the Potential Desensitization of Humankind

Susan Napier has asserted that most anime titles contain three elements: the apocalyptic, matsuri (“festival”), and elegiac. Well-known Japanese director and screenwriter, Otomo Katsuhiro, who is most well known for his works Akira and Metropolis, incorporates all three elements into both of these films. However, he uses these elements, the apocalyptic element in particular, to express a common underlying thread throughout all of his works: the fear of desensitization that may lie in humankind’s future.
